Lot No. 704 -
1985 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series I
Sold for: £18,700
A very special Escort RS Turbo.
This April 1985, Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 has enjoyed a glittering career in the past having been successful in multiple Concours, exhibited at countless shows, taken part in the launch of Ford Heritage and the RS Focus, being featured in a number of Motoring Magazines and generally being 'Star of the Show' wherever it went.
However, about seven years ago the decision was taken to deal with one or two cosmetic issues and, one thing led to another, and effectively the car ended up being fully restored. The owner was particularly keen on 'Preservation' rather than 'Restoration' and parts were not simply replaced for the sake of it, the emphasis being on presenting the car looking fabulous but as original as possible. New/old Ford parts were used throughout and those difficult to find items like the complete Ford exhaust, Motorcraft battery, and HT leads were hunted down. The 'rare as hen's teeth' dealer livery items like the Number Plates, dealer graphics and PDI stickers etc were all gradually sourced and reinstated in the correct place. The car is still mounted on its original wheels wearing their original fitment Michelin MXV tyres and music is provided by its original Ford radio. There is no space here to discuss the amazing condition of this RS and it's easier just to look at the photographs.
Owned by the vendor for 5 years, the odometer is currently reading 105,935 miles and the car is accompanied by an MoT valid until April 2017, its history binder containing its service history, old MoTs, invoices, details of the restoration and a copy of 'What Car' featuring B111 EEW.
Fast Fords of this era are currently very topical, and this super example represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-known and highly regarded Series 1 RS Turbo.
